Earlier this year, Jay-Z used a Samsung commercial to announce the release date for Magna Carta Holy Grail. And now Eminem has taken on the same marketing strategy.
During tonight’s airing of the MTV Video Music Awards, Eminem used a Beats by Dre commercial to announce his new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The sequel to his highly praised 2000 album will be released on November 5th 2013 a.k.a Guy Fawkes Day. Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre will be executive producers for the upcoming project.
Along with the commercial came a premiere snippet of a track entitled “Bezerk.” The instrumental for new song is reminiscent of old school Beastie Boys while Eminem rhymes with his trademark angry energy: “Now this shit’s about to kick off, this party looks wack/Let’s take it back to straight Hip-Hop and start if from scratch!”
