It’s no news that Ryan Gosling has a history of being a Canadian child actor from his appearances on Canadian-produced shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark and Goosebumps. But today, The Hollywood Reporter has unearthed an appearance Gosling made on CTV’s Canada AM back when he was only 12 years old.
The interview was conducted just as Gosling was cast on The All New Mickey Mouse Club. Not only do we get to see a young Gosling wearing a hideous denim dress shirt, but the interview also starts with a home movie of him lip-syncing to “Achy Breaky Heart.”
Gosling also refuses to perform on the show, asking the audience to instead to wait and watch him on The All New Mickey Mouse Club. Also, he says “aboot” a couple times and mentions that he would really like to meet Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson. I’m not sure if either of those dreams came true, but regardless, it’s neat to see the actor while he was still wet behind the ears.
