Four seasoned musicians with heritages tracing back to Chile, Ethiopia, Germany, and Hungary, converged in London to form Hejira in 2010. The sonic collaboration of Sam Beste, Rahel Debebe-Dessalegne, Alexis Nunez, and Alex Reeve caught the attention of the innovative electronic musician/producer, Matthew Herbert. Heijra's debut album Prayer Before Birth, set for release on October 21, will be released on Herbert's label, Accidental Records.
Preceding the release of Prayer Before Birth will be a 12-inch single "Litmus Test" on September 16, accompanied by a live performance film of the track, along with additional treatments by Seb Rochford featuring Jehst and Floating Points.
Listen to the haunting and worldly "Litmus Test", where emotive chorus of vocals ring as a planet, rather than countries, with the sorrowful guitar and gloomy percussions migrating towards a decisive end.
