Watch: Atoms For Peace Pound Out "Harrowdown Hill" At Roundhouse

Late last week, supergroup Atoms For Peace played a trio of nights at London’s Roundhouse. Reviewers generally were left jaws agape at the end of the show, with many declaring it a triumph. Well, the band has released an official clip of set highlight “Harrowdown Hill” and has made it available for purchase via soundhalo.

Originally released on Yorke’s 2006 solo album, The Eraser, live, “Harrowdown Hill”, is a pounding, visceral beast of a tune, let wild to a rabid crowd. Dressed like he’s jogging in Williamsburg, Yorke hops and squirms rhythmically to Flea’s thumping bass, as Godrich unleashes the song’s chilling whir from somewhere in the background. The release on soundhalo is another biting of thumb toward Spotify, whom the band fell out with earlier this month in a dispute over royalty distribution.

The subject matter of “Harrowdown Hill” reappeared in the news last week. It is the ten year anniversary of the mysterious death of Dr. David Kelly, Britain’s foremost WMD in Iraq expert, who confessed to a journalist his severe doubts about the march to war that the Blair government was leading Britain.  After a hounding from the Blair government, he was found dead at the titular park some time later. Kelly’s death was officially ruled suicide, though many claim that some kind of cover up was orchestrated by the powers that be. Yorke’s song joins the throng who still believe questions have gone unanswered regarding the sad saga.
