A microphone allegedly used by John Lennon during the recording of his classic 1971 Imagine album has been put for sale on craigslist. Though the validity of the item is unconfirmed, the seller as asking for a cool £1500 ($23,000).
The seller claims the mic was used by the Beatles legend at his Tittenhurst Park residence during the recording of the album. It was here where Lennon recorded versions of “Jealous Guy”, “How Do You Sleep?” and the album’s utopian title track. Such an item is bound to cause a stir, with Beatles memorabilia selling for millions of dollars in previous years. In 2000, singer George Michael paid $2.1 million for the piano that Lennon composed “Imagine” on. Though any bidding for the microphone is unlikely to reach such heights, the seller assures us that: “All documentation is authentic as it was my brother who purchased it for me as a gift a number of years ago”. If that’s not reassuring enough, and it probably isn't, check out an image of the item in question below and a clip of Lennon demoing “Imagine” at Tittenhurst, possibly with said mic.
