Dubbed the "stoner anthem" by Spin, Netherfriends - a.k.a. Shawn Rosenblatt - has a very unique story. Losing a permanent residency, he toured non-stop while recording along the way, and the product? Something the mighty Sufjan Stevens couldn't finish - a 50 States project. And while Stevens was working on albums for each state, Netherfriends does an excellent job of doing one song for every state, which you can stream at his Bandcamp.

Now, beyond his incredibly interesting past, the present for Netherfriends includes a summer jam, which I imagine will be found by a bunch of indie stoners and they will jam incessantly. This is never a bad thing, just look at hippies and what they did for 60's music. But I digress, and to point out what's great about "Uptown Boys" is its insatiable catchiness. On immediate listen, you are transfixed by sunny melodies and chillaxed rhythms. I, personally, can't help but sing along and bounce a little with the beat.

Summer jam? Stoner anthem? Catchy song? Call it what you want. But if you listen, you will be transfixed, whether temporarily or permanently. You may have to wait for his album, dubbed P3ACE. But, for now, listen below.
