James Blunt is best known to most of us for penning that one song (which will never be named)--a song about the painful experience of seeing your ex with her new man (and mistakenly conceptualized as a love ballad by so many well-intentioned boyfriends on Valentine's Day). He sold 11 million copies of his debut album, Back to Bedlam, but you only know that one song.
Blunt might be considered a joke in the great annals of lovesick English songwriters, but for middle-aged housewives and/or any young women that were possibly home-schooled or doing missionary work abroad and missed a good chunk of the "aughties," he's like some sort of Don Juan Lite. Thus, it's a really sad day for fans, as Blunt told The Daily Mail that he's giving up music in favor of a normal life--"chilling out" at his private villa in Ibiza and other normal people things. "I just want to take some time out for myself," he said, adding "I haven't got any plans to do more songwriting."
