From Finland, Black Lizard transmits a song that recalls the aura more akin to the California desert than their native country of thousand lakes. The Helsinki-based quartet must have also felt the wilderness quality of “Boundaries” as they are shown wandering aimlessly on a deserted beach in the video filmed themselves. Not exactly the dust bowl landscape, but the ample sands, the sparse greeneries, and the moody sky somehow imbue a certain Western quality. Edited by Paltsa-Kai Salama, the binocular-like motif of circular frames makes one question who is the searcher - the subjects in the view or the viewers. Well, let’s not get too deep here - the gritty, exotic-flavored post punk track is best experienced viscerally.
“Boundaries” is the second single from Black Lizard’s self-titled debut LP, available through Soliti.
