While the lo-fi punk-influenced pop/rock movement surges on in America with the likes of Parquet Courts, No Age, and Merchandise, the country that gave us the progenitors are also making noise with a batch of new bands. The London-based Crushed Beaks started releasing clamour of quick ennuied youth pop anthems towards the end of 2011. In anticipation of their four-track EP, Tropes, due for release on September 16 via ASL Records, the duo have released the music video for the title track.
Directed by Jonny Sanders, “Tropes” is a hyperactive montage of found footages, guaranteed to induce psychological chaos and disorder, reinforcing the tumultuous euphoria of manic energy of the single.
