Watch: Kendrick Lamar Explains 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' Acronym

He may have previously asked fans to listen to his record to understand the title, but with his Aftermath debut good kid, m.A.A.d city (offically out Oct. 22) suffering a premature leak, Kendrick Lamar went ahead and explained the acronym in his album title. Sitting down with LA Leakers, the Black Hippy MC stated that the "m.A.A.d" acronym has two meanings, both as poignant as the next.

"It's two, two meanings. The first one is 'my angry adolescence divided,' and the basic standout meaning is 'my angel's on angel dust,'" he said. "That's the reason why I don't smoke, that was me. I got laced. The reason I don't smoke, and it's in the album. It's in the story. It was just me getting my hands on the wrong thing at the wrong time, being oblivious to it."

During his appearance, Kendrick also revealed that he and T.I. have "got something" for the Grand Hustle head's new album, Trouble Man, discussed working with Scoop DeVille (the producer behind "Poetic Justice" featuring Drake and "The Recipe" with Dr. Dre), and announced that he and J. Cole will release their collaborative project "out the sky."
