Apparently not everyone is as excited about Kanye West's new marketing campaign. Houston, Texas police shut down West's scheduled screening at the Rothko Chapel last night (May 24). As reported by Billboard, police arrived at the location before "New Slaves" aired, threatening to arrest bystanders for trespassing. According to reports, the growing crowd was respectful, so the police shutdown was not due to a boisterous crowd.
West's team also scheduled screenings at two other Houston locations, and neither of them ran smoothly. At one location, "New Slaves" failed to air at all, while technical difficulties hindered the other.
The Houston screenings were part of the new set of locations announced by West to promote his forthcoming Yeezus album. Locations of all screenings can be found here.
Yeezus will be released on June 18.
