Superchunk's New Album Titled I Hate Music

Serving up a followup to their 2010's Majesty Shredding, Superchunk will release their tenth studio album on August 20th via Merge Records. While it is actually titled I Hate Music, the band cleared up some questions and gave reasoning behind the name. "It's really more a question than a statement," said Superchunk. "When you're 20, lazy co-workers and romantic missteps number among your biggest worries; two decades later, life's bigger questions knock louder and louder, demanding answers."

In comparison to Majesty Shredding, the band decribed I Hate Music as it's dark twin. This isn't to say that the album is completely dark. Amidst the darkness, there is still a fighting sense of hope. "I Hate Music is an album about love more than anything else: love of life, love of living, love of people, and yeah, love of music. It's dark in here, but if we conjure the right words and sounds, maybe we'll find our way out."
