In the wake of 2010's much adored Gorilla Manor, Los Angeles indie-rock quartet Local Natives are back with Hummingbird, which arrives Jan. 29 via Frenchkiss/Infectious Music. The sophmore effort was concieved in their homemade bungalow in L.A.'s Silver Lake neighborhood. The group then traveled to Montreal where the tracks were layed before being produced in Brooklyn by The National's Aaron Dessner.
As the title suggests, Hummingbird is poised to be a softer affair than their debut as the album scuttles between unbridled flight and reserved introspection. Let the album's first single, "Breakers", be a reminder of how well Local Natives' rhythm section works within the distinct percussion of Matt Frazier.
