At the risk of being called an old fart (and I've been called much worse), I always sorta chuckle when people talk up the 'new' hardcore scene, which is usually just an awful amalgam of overcooked, tuneless riffs and aimless histrionic screaming. Often accompanied by triangular haircuts. Or, it's sugar-sweet dreck that's barely 4th-level Green Day wannabes. Not a pretty sight.
But Pissed Jeans....yeah, now you're talking. Bradley Fry has the swagger of Jello Biafra and the danger of David Yow, a combustible stage presence that you just can't take your eyes off. Just judging from my photos, that's pretty clear; wait...there were three other guys on stage? If you want industrial strength piss and vinegar, look no farther; this is one of the most incendiary bands I've seen in a while.
Cottaging has a horrible name, but a great sound. Think early '90s Amphetamine Reptile and add a dash or two of Blast First! bands and you are in the right ballpark. And that's a stadium that I'll pay season tickets for. The merch table just had a cassette and some shirts, but word is that some vinyl is in the works. Edge of the seat, friends.
