It feels like ages since I first fell in love with Small Black. In reality, it has been less than three years and ever since then, I longed to hear kaleidoscopes of "Camouflage" from the Brooklyn electro bedroom pop (street name: chillwave) band. At the end of February, the foursome finally broke the details of their second LP, Limits Of Desire, with the lead track, "Free At Dawn". Now you can enjoy the video version - a filmic feast of the town so many indie musicians call it their home base.
Working once again with director Yoonha Park, who also gave us the video interpretation of Small Black's "Photojournalist" and "Despicable Dogs", "Free At Dawn" takes inspiration from Hollis Frampton's experimental visual poetry, Zorns Lemma, resulting in a montage of abstract imagery for a song that soars and breaks through the periphery of trivialities.
