Look at that cutie. And remember her face, because that is the sweet, youthful, wrinkle-free, dreams are still possible face of Boy Meets World 2.0: Girl Meets World.
As previously reported, the gang is back (and by 'gang' we mean charming, non-threatening, white family). Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence--or is it Topanga Matthews (probably still Lawrence; homegirl had a hippie dad named JEDIDIAH; girls with dads named Jedidiah keep their last names)--the dream team of ABC's "TGIF" lineup are all grown up with a daughter of their own who's set to star in her very own TV show, lucky b. The spin-off series, Girl Meets World, has no official air date and, as EWstresses, is still "a ways away," though the pilot episode is scheduled to begin production in February.
The young talent cast in the role of Riley Matthews is none other than Rowan Blanchard, who you have never heard of unless you have a middle-schooler in your family (film credits include Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D and The Back-Up Plan). Eleven-year-old Blanchard was, apparently, a sure thing, according to producer Michael Jacobs. "As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," said Jacobs. "Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well."
While we're still mourning the loss of Rider Strong, figuratively speaking, this is good news. HOWEVER, listen up and listen hard Michael Jacobs: if you cut Feeny, we will cut you. Got it?*
*We will not physically harm Michael Jacobs.
