While mostly everyone was disappointed by the Dark Knight Rises, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's turn as John Blake/future Robin must have made a dent in our collective psyche because we really want to see him in another comic-book movie. If you read the 'bloids, within the past few months Gordon-Levitt supposedly locked down deals ranging from totally bat-crazy absurd (Justice League) to less absurd (Guardians of the Galaxy), to the "nothing matters anymore" (Godzilla).
But lo and behold, the actor himself has actually confirmed his next foray into the world of comics, with the highly anticipated Rodriguez/Miller production, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. MTV (via Deadline) reports that Gordon-Levitt has signed on to play a character created specifically for the Sin City prequel; "Johnny" is described in the press release as "a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game" (which kind of sounds like the vague sketch of every single male noir anti-hero). Real-life Johnny (that's Depp) was allegedly offered the role but turned it down.
Sin City 2 started filming last November, according to one of the film's actors, Rosario Dawson. Besides Dawson, other returning cast members include Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, and Bruce Willis.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is scheduled for release Oct. 4.
