The Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently took to Twitter to confirm what many fans have been eagerly anticipating: the next album is slated for a Spring 2013 release.
The New York trio, fronted by bang-a-licious (and by that, we mean she has delicious bangs) babe Karen O, hasn't put out a new album since 2009's It's Blitz! Speculation abounded that LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy would produce the record, but Murphy himself squashed those rumors last October during an interview with the Huffington Post.
Few details have surfaced regarding the upcoming album, and so many questions remain: will the band push forward with the tightly produced disco style of It's Blitz? Is "Despair," a new song revealed during the Hurricane Sandy benefit in New York (which SPIN described as "a spare thumper that recalled Florence and the Machine's 'Dog Days Are Over'") indicative of the creative direction? What is 'spontaneous evolution?' [CoS]
