Singer/songwriter and beloved multi-instrumentalist of The Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney, is said to be filling in the shoes of the late Kurt Cobain to join the surviving members of Nirvana for a reunion at tonight's Hurricane Sandy benefit concert. We'll give you a second to take that in.
While it seems to be difficult for any publication to find real sources on the matter, and this may very well be a super trolling that we'll all fall victim to, the reports seem believable. It's been said that drummer Dave Grohl recruited McCartney for an impromptu jam session which resulted in an amiable agreement and possibly the most interesting thing to come of this benefit. According to The Guardian, in regards to jamming with Grohl/Nirvana, McCartney stated, "I didn't really know who they were... and somebody whispered to me: 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."
If the reports are factual, this would be the first time that original Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have performed together in nearly 20 years! They're said to also be accompanied by former Nirvana touring guitarist, Pat Smear.
Other renowned artists performing the benefit include names like Eric Clapton, Chris Martin, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Roger Waters and more.
